West River Transit is a public transportation system providing origin to destination bus service for all people in the rural area around Bismarck/Mandan. Our goal is to enhance the mobility and accessibility of all residents in the rural communities that West River Transit serves.

Our Team

4 women, 1 goal

Director Carol Anderson, has been molding and building connections, between our services and riders for the past 29 years - and with the dedication of our staff and board, we are continuously finding ways to develop transit availability, for all our communities. Our Admin. Assistant I, Ellen Lang, has had the pleasure and assisted in developing our services over the last 25 years. We once started with only a team of two and a fleet of eight vehicles, to now a team of four and 23 operating vehicles. Assistant II, Nancy Felix, has spent five years with WRT so far, and is proud of the assistance we enable, alongside the personal interactions made daily. Margo Johnson, our Dispatcher, joined our team less than a year ago, and is already establishing strong relationships with our customers and drivers, throughout all counties.

Our Drivers

WRT is a service in rural America that fills the needs of so many of our elderly population. Without our service, many would struggle to travel for their medical appointments and social events. I enjoy casual conversations with all our riders, and it makes me feel good that I can provide an assistance. - Dave, 4 year driver

Our service is essential for young parents that are both working. We offer one-way or round trip services to get the preschooler to school and back safely to home or daycare. Did I mention that our services are affordable too? - Linda C., 1 year Driver

West River Transit Title VI and Non-Discrimination Statement

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person on the United States shall on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." (42 U.S.C. Section 2000d).

Service Complaints

West River Transit strives to provide professional, courteous service to riders. If a rider feels that the transportation services provided do not meet West River Transit standards, a Service Complaint Form can be filled out and submitted for review. If the complaint is due to a violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, please refer to the section, West River Transit Title VI and Non-Discrimination Statement, listed on this page.
